Volkswagen unveiled limited XL1 claiming 261 miles per gallon

Volkswagen, the world's second largest automaker unveiled the production of its new two-seater hybrid XL1 at Geneva Motor Show. Volkswagen claims that this hybrid car can go 261 Miles using one gallon of fuel. The concept behind this amazing hybrid car was started in 2002 and after 10 years of hard work by Volkswagen Engineers they finally made the car that can run 261 miles per gallon of fuel.



Volkswagen XL1

Volkswagen XL1 is a hybrid car which consist of a electric system and this system is powered by two cylinder diesel engine capacity of 800cc that can produce 48 horsepower. Electric system further produce 27 horsepower and the power runs the wheels with 7-speed transmission with dual clutch plates gearbox which helps the car to run at maximum speed of 100 miles per hour as Volkswagen claims. Volkswagen also claims that XL1 can go 0-60 mph in 12.7 secs.
       
Electric system contains 5.5 kWh lithium-ion battery which able the car to run 31 miles alone on the battery when fully charged but 1 gallon of diesel can charge battery and make the car to run 261 miles per gallon by emitting 21g/km CO2. Volkswagen designed it to a pretty look with lambo doors. This car will be manufactured in very less quantity i.e 250 and it will cost more than $100,000.
